Symptoms and Changes of 34 Weeks of Pregnancy
Pregnancy is marked by various physical changes for the mother and child, especially at 32 Weeks Pregnant.
Every week of pregnancy involves a vista of developmental changes for the unborn child. If you are 34 weeks pregnant, you are nearing the end of the last trimester. Your baby is also in the last stages of pre-natal development.
You are 34 weeks pregnant and there are many questions on your mind. You would want to know what to expect and why you are experiencing something. Here is a glimpse of significant changes in your body, how your baby is developing, and what some of your symptoms may mean.
Physical changes when you are 34 weeks pregnant include a gradual increase in size of your baby bump. The upper tip of your uterus is roughly 5 to 6 inches above your umbilicus (belly button). Hormonal changes prompt your body to reserve water and hence you may also expect a mild swelling up of your hands and legs. Keep your legs elevated while sitting and drink plenty of water to alleviate the discomfort. Acidity is a common situation for those who are in their last trimester, due to the growing size of the bay and uterus. Have small, frequent meals in lieu of only three large portioned meals.
Fetal development in a mother who is 34 weeks pregnant is marked by increased muscular movement. The baby is able to lift his head and even turn it sideward. Most of his organs have developed for delivery. However, his lungs are in practice-mode. The baby is trying to breathe and frequently ingests the amniotic fluid, causing him to have hiccups. He/she is anywhere between 15 and 17 inches in length. Newly acquired muscle control is developed in his/her repeated kicks and stretches.
Fetal pictures of the ultrasound scan when you are 34 weeks pregnant reveal that the baby is able to blink his eyes now. He can sleep with his eyes shut and keep them open while awake. If you are to notice the baby covering his face during an ultrasound, it is because he can sense the light and feels uneasy. His fingers and toes are developed and the baby is better defined in facial features as well. Your symptoms of acidity and nausea are also because the baby has grown in size and is pressing against the uterus walls. The uterus has the highest volume of amniotic fluid during the week 34 and week 35. Then after, there is a decrease in fluid to accommodate the growing baby.
Pregnancy is the first phase as you embark on the journey of motherhood. The last trimester signals your body’s and baby’s readiness for delivery. At 34 weeks pregnant, ensure you have kept your doctor apprised of any new developments such as pains, contractions and excessive edema. These symptoms are to be evaluated for any signs of premature delivery.
