2 Weeks Pregnant

3 Weeks Pregnant

What to expect when 2 weeks pregnant

You have reason to be excited when you are 2 weeks pregnant, and questions are only natural. You are beginning a time of rapid change that you may or may not have experienced before. Throught the course of your pregnancy you will have questions about symptoms, what to expect, and even what is good and not good for your body (and the baby of course).

2 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms

There are many ways your body will begin showing pregnancy. This early on a belly or bump is not going to be showing, however there are other symptoms to look out for.

The most common sign of a pregnancy is missing your menstrual period. Simply put, if you are pregnant, you will not continue your cycle, so this is more of a full blown sign than a hint.

Are you craving strange foods or do some of your favorite just taste horrible? This is a common symptom one would experience at 2 weeks of pregnancy.

Chewing on copper? If you have a metallic taste in your mouth, don’t worry. This is a common sensation to experience during pregnancy.

Are you running to the bathroom? Get used to this one! Throught your pregnancy holding your bladder will be more and more difficult. Especially as the room fills up with the growing baby.

Are you tired or feeling fatigued? This is another common early sign.

Nausea, or morning sickness is a very common sign of early pregnancy, especially at 2 weeks. This can occur with or without vomiting.

Breasts! (yes any fathers to be, we are sure you noticed this sign). Breast growth can be one of the earliest signs of a pregnancy. Not only will they grow, but they will become tender. Don’t be afraid to tell.

2 Weeks Pregnant, how big is my baby! (Pictures)

Your embryo (or baby to be) is still VERY small. This photo shows exactly how small! Remember Just a few weeks ago (depending when you started counting) this was the size of an egg (plus a very small sperm). Photo Credit

Time to start planning, even at 2 weeks!

Since you are so newly pregnant, and the symptoms are usually more mild than some of those that may occur in the coming weeks (yes you have LOT’s to look forward to!) This is a great time to start thinking about your pregnancy and getting all your baby ducks in a row.

The Process and Health Care

Having a baby can be both complicated and expensive. You will have lots of questions as your pregnancy moves along (you found this site didn’t you) and it is important that you have a health care provider that you can trust and ask the important questions. When choosing a health care provider make sure they follow the same mindset you have for your pregnancy.

There is a wide spectrum in natural vs modern birthing techniques. From at home, under water births with Bach played by a string quartet to epidural birthing parties for friends and family, you need to decide for yourself what sort of pregnancy you wish to have. Discuss the options with your doctor and feel free to read up on the various pros and cons. Make sure that what ever you decide, your doctor is familiar with these techniques. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, or even for recommendations from other women.

2 weeks pregnant? Time to get healthy!

Now that you are sharing a body with a growing baby, it is time to consider health for two. There are many things that you can do to improve the health of your baby, both directly, and indirectly through improving your own health. These things include.

Nutrition

Even at two weeks it is important to start eating right. Your body is going to be putting on weight (this is IMPORTANT) so don’t deny those important calories. Between 300 and 500 (in later stages) extra calories a day should be about right. Don’t just fill up on any calories (stay away from processed foods). Remember, healthy food = a healthy baby!

Exercise

Begin to exercise moderately. It is important that you be in good health, but now is not the time to train for the next iron man. Exercise will help you both physical and mentally. Your increased endorphin production can help keep you in a positive attitude as you enter this time of unknowing. Plus who doesn’t like endorphins (they are released during sex after all).

Quit Smoking

Although many women still smoke during pregnancy, the effects of smoking should be avoided on your embryo. Plus your body is going to be going through a lot in the coming months. You will want all the extra energy you can get!

Stop Drinking

Yes, this one is important. Drinking Alcohol can lead to Fetal Alcohol Syndrom (now considered fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, or FASD). Women who drink during pregnancy have less growth. Even a couple drinks (or one shot) a day can lead to these effects, so it is best to just stay away entirely.
